Animalia: A Fun Display Font for Small Business Branding

As a small business owner, I know how important it is to make every visual element of your brand feel intentional and cohesive. When I was redesigning the packaging for my boutique’s new line of handmade soaps, I needed a font that felt playful yet polished—something that could elevate the look of my product labels without being too formal. That’s when I discovered Animalia, a unique and fun display font that turned out to be exactly what I needed.

Animalia for Product Labels and Packaging Design

Animalia is a display font with a whimsical, hand-drawn style that feels both casual and refined. It works especially well for product labels, packaging design, and any branding element that needs a friendly, approachable touch. Whether you're labeling candles, skincare products, or handmade goods, Animalia adds a sense of personality that can make your brand stand out in a crowded market.

For example, using Animalia on a candle jar label gives it a more artisanal feel, while still maintaining professionalism. The font’s slightly irregular shapes and soft curves make it perfect for small text on labels, where readability is key but style matters just as much. I found that pairing it with a clean sans serif font like Helvetica or Arial helped balance the design and made the overall message clearer.

Animalia for Business Cards and Thank-You Notes

Another area where Animalia shines is in business cards and thank-you notes. As someone who often sends handwritten notes to clients, I wanted a font that felt personal but still looked professional. Animalia does that beautifully. Its playful yet structured form makes it ideal for short phrases, such as “Thank You,” “Special Thanks,” or even a client’s name on a card.

I used Animalia for a series of thank-you cards for a local bakery I work with. The font added a warm, inviting tone that matched their brand’s friendly vibe. It also worked well for their menu headers, giving the design a fresh, modern feel without being too bold or overwhelming.

Animalia for Social Media Graphics and Online Shop Banners

When it comes to digital branding, Animalia is a great choice for social media graphics, Instagram templates, and online shop banners. Its expressive style catches the eye and helps your content stand out in a scroll-heavy environment. Whether you’re creating a promotional post for a new product or designing a banner for your Etsy shop, Animalia brings energy and character to your visuals.

I used it for a set of Instagram story templates for a small online boutique. The font worked well for headlines and call-to-action buttons, adding a sense of fun without sacrificing clarity. It also paired nicely with a minimalist background, allowing the text to pop while keeping the overall design clean and modern.

Animalia for Menus and Café Branding

If you run a café or a small eatery, Animalia can help give your menus a fresh, inviting look. Its casual yet readable style makes it ideal for headings, special offers, or even daily updates. I tested it on a menu for a local café, and it added a friendly, approachable tone that aligned perfectly with their brand identity.

One thing to keep in mind is that while Animalia is great for headlines and short phrases, it may not be the best choice for long paragraphs of text. For menus, it’s best to use it for titles and subheadings rather than full descriptions. Pairing it with a simple serif or sans serif font for the body text ensures that your menu remains easy to read and visually balanced.

Animalia for Logo Design and Brand Identity

While Animalia isn’t typically used as a primary logo font, it can be a powerful tool for secondary branding elements. It works well for taglines, slogans, or decorative accents in a logo. Its playful nature makes it a good fit for brands targeting a younger or more creative audience, such as children’s products, art supplies, or lifestyle brands.

For a coaching brand I collaborated with, we used Animalia in a logo design to add a touch of warmth and creativity. It complemented the main logo font perfectly, giving the brand a more dynamic and engaging look. It also worked well in their website headers and social media posts, helping create a consistent visual language across all platforms.
